A little more about the people behind Studio 1 Photography
We are Ashley and Emma, a friendly husband and wife team. We work together at Studio 1 Photography, combining our two professions, photography and make up artistry. Our mission is to offer a superb service to you, our customers, helping you to achieve inspired and creative photography at the most affordable prices. As a team we make sure that we offer ample time and careful planning for your photography sessions, whether that’s a family portrait session, makeover experience, children’s party or even a pet portrait.
Ashley – I’ve had a passion for photography from a young age. Although my career began in retail I soon realised that I wanted to turn my love of photography into a full time business. I’ve now had the pleasure and privilege of photographing 100s of families over the last 12 years at Studio 1 Photography. In 2016 I decided to expand our services by offering in-house bespoke framing at Studio 1. This meant we could cut out the middle man and save on the cost of these services so that we could continue to offer the most affordable prices to our customers. I am extremely proud of the quality of our framing services, all of our products are created to the highest standard by our expert team. We can now offer our customers a complete package to create beautiful pieces of photographic artwork for their home, or the perfect gift for a loved one.
Emma – I am a professional Hair and Make Up Artist with over 15 years experience in the beauty industry. I specialise in bridal hair and make up and can create any look or style that you have in mind for your special day – or any other occasion. For many people, great hair and make up is an essential requirement to complement a photography session. When you book a portrait session at Studio 1 you will have the option to book a mini makeover session to help you to feel amazing for your photoshoot.
I am also a hands on part of our photography studio. I am trained in newborn baby posing and love to help families capture perfect photographs as they begin family life with their new baby. I am often present during photography viewing sessions to offer an artistic opinion to help to create beautiful finished pieces of artwork or photography for your home.
Studio 1 Photography is a relaxed portrait studio set in a beautiful grade II listed building called Penmore House. You will find us in the heart of Hasland on the main Hasland Road, around one mile away from Chesterfield Town Centre. Our studio offers free visitor parking to the rear of the premises. Penmore House is well preserved Georgian building with tons of character, space and natural lighting offering our customers a unique photography experience. The beautiful gardens offer the perfect backdrop for outdoor photography too.
We have plenty of space to accommodate large families and fun photoshoots for up to 20 people. This includes our welcoming reception and lounge area, which is ideal an ideal space for our guests to relax before and after their photographs. This room also houses our inspiring display of bespoke wall products including a wide range of frames, mounts and canvasses as well as our Couture range, all of which are created in house.
Inside the studio we offer a selection of stylish backdrops to create many different looks for your photographs. We use the latest lighting technology to offer creative flare too. We can provide many props to use during your session, but you are more than welcome to bring along your own items that may relate to your hobbies or interests. We have a beautiful bespoke area of the studio for newborn babies and small children and can offer a range of delightful backgrounds for creative photographs of your little one.
When you return to visit us to view your photos your session will take place in our private gallery room, where your photographs will be displayed as a slideshow.

I contacted Studio 1 via their website regarding a newborn photoshoot. Emma contacted me less than 24 hours from enquiring and a shoot was organised for when my baby was 10 days old. Both Emma and Ashley were very friendly and welcoming.
On arrival, the studio was clean and modern but with a rustic feel. I hate having my photo taken but Ashley made me feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera.
I am very pleased with the final product and so happy that I chose Studio 1 to capture those precious memories. They offer a excellent quality service at very reasonable prices.

After a recent visit to the studio for a photo session. We were greeted by a young lady with a friendly and helpful attitude and great smile. We were offered drinks and made to feel welcome why we relaxed and awaited our session.
The session was really professional and the photographer did really well to engage and entice my children to be natural and amazing. The pictures were processed and edited it a swift and professional manner and upon our return the viewing was conducted professionally and in a smart setting, must note loved the use of the tv to view the images on.
The wide selection of images made choosing almost impossible. Highly recommend and will be visiting again soon. Thank you.
Had two different photoshoots done by Ash and been really pleased each time first was a family one at the studio and 2nd was just recently of mine and my new hubby’s wedding day. The studio is lovely and feels so relaxed. Ash is just amazing at what he does, easy to get along with and you can tell he loves his job.
