Your child’s Cake Smash Photoshoot will be an incredibly fun day and the perfect choice to capture your little one’s first birthday – after all, who doesn’t like cake!

Your session will normally take place in the run up to your little one’s birthday – giving you all something to look forward to and a perfect birthday memory to celebrate this milestone. We will begin with a short photo session minus the cake so that your child becomes comfortable with having their photograph taken. This also gives your family the chance to capture some additional beautiful family portraits. Having you involved will mean your child will find it easier to relax and will soon be happy in the studio.

You should bring your choice of cake along to your Cake Smash photo session as well as any extra accessories that you might like to add – such as birthday hats, banners or dressing up outfits. Your photo session will leave you with treasured photographic memories for years to come.

Why not choose a theme for your photoshoot to personalise it even more – this could include a pink or blue theme, a jungle theme or a forest theme. If you have a different idea then please give us a call as we might be able to create a new Cake Smash set just for you!

What to expect from your cake smash photoshoot

When you book your Cake Smash photoshoot we will talk you through everything that you need to bring along with you, such as the cake, changes of clothes and accessories.

On the day you will be welcomed into the studio and we will begin with a chat about your ideas for the session – we have lots of inspiration for you if you need a hand!

We will then move onto your short family photoshoot on a plain background and capture some perfect shots of your family whilst your little one settles into the studio. Next we will change our photo set to your chosen Cake Smash theme whilst you get your child into their cake smash outfit – you’re also welcome to bring along personal items including your cake to add to our exclusively designed photo set. Why not bring your child’s favourite (wipe clean) toy?

Your little one is guaranteed to have a smashing time during their Cake Smash photoshoot and this means we will capture some cheeky and adorable happy photos that your whole family will be able to treasure forever.

Your little one may love the taste of cake but not the texture, others may love the mess – this is all part of the fun of a Cake Smash photoshoot and will capture your child’s personality at their one year milestone birthday.

Your Viewing Session

After your photoshoot we will arrange a mutually convenient time for you to return to the studio to view your photographs – usually in around a weeks time.

Your viewing will take place in our private gallery room where you can relax and enjoy viewing your images as a slideshow.

You can bring your family members along with you so that you can make decisions together. You will be given plenty of time to decide on your favourite photographs and how they can best be displayed around your home – we have endless options for prints, mounts and frames so we can offer the perfect choice for everyone.

How should I dress my little one for their Cake Smash Photoshoot?

You can choose whatever theme or style you wish for your child’s cake smash outfit. We recommend you bring along a separate outfit too for your initial family photoshoot so that we can capture some beautiful portraits of your little one and your family without the cake!

You could also bring a wooden or colourful plastic spoon in case your child doesn’t enjoy the feeling of the cake on their hands.

Don’t forget to bring plenty of wet wipes, a towel and a spare set of clothes for yourself as well as your child – you never know how messy your cake smash photoshoot may get!

What should I bring to our Cake Smash Photoshoot?

Bring along a cake that is made from sponge. Ideally it will be decorated with soft colourful butter icing rather than rolled fondant as this is much easier for your child to ‘smash’ through. Try to avoid chocolate cakes.

You could also bring a wooden or colourful plastic spoon in case your child doesn’t enjoy the feeling of the cake on their hands.

Don’t forget to bring plenty of wet wipes, a towel and a spare set of clothes for yourself as well as your child – you never know how messy your cake smash photoshoot may get!

How long will my Cake Smash Photoshoot last?

Your session will last for up to one hour. This allows us to capture some lovely photographs with and without cake.

We realise that your child’s attention span may be short at this young age so we will keep the shoot fun and short so that they don’t have time to become bored or grumpy!

I contacted Studio 1 via their website regarding a newborn photoshoot. Emma contacted me less than 24 hours from enquiring and a shoot was organised for when my baby was 10 days old. Both Emma and Ashley were very friendly and welcoming.

On arrival, the studio was clean and modern but with a rustic feel. I hate having my photo taken but Ashley made me feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera.

I am very pleased with the final product and so happy that I chose Studio 1 to capture those precious memories. They offer a excellent quality service at very reasonable prices.

After a recent visit to the studio for a photo session. We were greeted by a young lady with a friendly and helpful attitude and great smile. We were offered drinks and made to feel welcome why we relaxed and awaited our session.

The session was really professional and the photographer did really well to engage and entice my children to be natural and amazing. The pictures were processed and edited it a swift and professional manner and upon our return the viewing was conducted professionally and in a smart setting, must note loved the use of the tv to view the images on.

The wide selection of images made choosing almost impossible. Highly recommend and will be visiting again soon. Thank you.

Had two different photoshoots done by Ash and been really pleased each time first was a family one at the studio and 2nd was just recently of mine and my new hubby’s wedding day. The studio is lovely and feels so relaxed. Ash is just amazing at what he does, easy to get along with and you can tell he loves his job.
