This is a life changing time for you as your body is constantly adapting as your baby is developing. You may not always feel your best but you still have a beautiful glow. A Maternity Photoshoot is a wonderful way to record your journey to motherhood and to capture beautiful moments during your pregnancy.

Your focus right now will probably be on preparing for the baby and your excitement about their arrival, but this is a great chance to concentrate on you. Look at what your amazing body is doing – bumps, stretch marks and all – the photographs will document an exciting time that you can look back on with your partner and child in years to come.

The perfect time to capture these once-in-a-lifetime memories is around the 34th week of your pregnancy or soon after. You may feel nervous about a Maternity Photoshoot and putting your body in front of the camera but we promise to make you feel as comfortable.

You’re welcome to bring family members along with you to take part in the session – you may like to bring your older children or even your dog as you celebrate a new beginning for you all.

What to expect from your maternity photoshoot

When you book your Maternity Photoshoot we will chat to you about the different styles of maternity photography and the clothing you might like to wear.

Your photoshoot will be personalised especially for you.
Here are some examples of styles of Maternity Photography:

Fully clothed: You are welcome to remain fully dressed throughout your session. We suggest you wear something figure hugging and colours that complement you.

Exposed Bump: Would you like to show off your bump? For this style we suggest you wear a crop top, vest top or ‘boob tube’ so that you can expose your growing bump whilst the rest of your body is covered.

Underwear: Show off your beautiful figure and bump by wearing your underwear during the session. You can trust us to flatter your curves in our softly lit studio. Choose underwear that you feel comfortable in when you look in the mirror.

Implied Nude: If you’re feeling confident to show off your beautiful curves in full then this is the style for you. Our soft lighting helps us to create stunning art nude photographs. You can wear your briefest briefs and trust us to create poses for you that maintain your dignity at all times.

You will also be encouraged to add your own ideas and personality to your photoshoot. Your partner, children and pets are all welcome to come along if you would like. You could even bring along accessories that relate to your unborn baby. We also recommend that you bring along outfit changes if you’d like to mix the shoot up a little.

Maternity Photography Viewing Session

After the session we will invite you to return at a mutually convenient time, around one week later, to view your images and decide on your favourites. Viewing takes place in our relaxing private gallery room where you will see a slideshow of your beautiful photographs. You will be given plenty of time to decide.

If you prefer you can view your maternity photographs when you visit us again for a Newborn Photoshoot. Many of our Mums choose to return with their newborns for a complete Bump to Baby portrait experience.

What should I wear?

When is the best time to book a maternity photoshoot?

We recommend that you book your session to coincide with your 34th week of pregnancy or soon after. At this time you hopefully won’t feel too uncomfortable and you are less likely to miss your session if your little one decides to make an early appearance!
Sessions can be booked in advance anytime after your 12 weeks scan.

Can my partner and children join in?

Yes of course. Your partner, children and pets are all welcome to come and join in the fun.

I contacted Studio 1 via their website regarding a newborn photoshoot. Emma contacted me less than 24 hours from enquiring and a shoot was organised for when my baby was 10 days old. Both Emma and Ashley were very friendly and welcoming.

On arrival, the studio was clean and modern but with a rustic feel. I hate having my photo taken but Ashley made me feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera.

I am very pleased with the final product and so happy that I chose Studio 1 to capture those precious memories. They offer a excellent quality service at very reasonable prices.

After a recent visit to the studio for a photo session. We were greeted by a young lady with a friendly and helpful attitude and great smile. We were offered drinks and made to feel welcome why we relaxed and awaited our session.

The session was really professional and the photographer did really well to engage and entice my children to be natural and amazing. The pictures were processed and edited it a swift and professional manner and upon our return the viewing was conducted professionally and in a smart setting, must note loved the use of the tv to view the images on.

The wide selection of images made choosing almost impossible. Highly recommend and will be visiting again soon. Thank you.

Had two different photoshoots done by Ash and been really pleased each time first was a family one at the studio and 2nd was just recently of mine and my new hubby’s wedding day. The studio is lovely and feels so relaxed. Ash is just amazing at what he does, easy to get along with and you can tell he loves his job.
